CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The 23rd-ranked North Carolina gymnastics team returns to Chapel Hill on Sunday, Feb. 9, for a big Atlantic Coast Conference showdown with No. 24 Clemson inside Carmichael Arena.

Airing on ACC Network, Sunday's competition is UNC's first nationally-televised meet this season. John Roethlisberger and Trinity Thomas will be on call beginning at 4 p.m. ET. Introductions start at 3:45 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here.

Ten Things to Know

North Carolina is ranked No. 23 for the third week in a row. The team was ranked No. 36 in preseason and No. 26 after Week Two.
JoJo Valahovic was named the ACC Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 4. She won the honor after a career-high 9.875 on floor at Stanford on Jan. 31 to tie for second place. She also earned a 9.775 on vault and 9.825 on beam.
Valahovic won her first event title on Jan. 25 with a 9.875 after a stuck Yurchenko 1.5. Her 9.875 is the highest vault score among all ACC freshmen.
UNC's average beam rotation of 48.975 is ranked 19th nationally and third in the ACC. The Tar Heels' 49.25 in the season opener was higher than any of their beam rotations during the 2024 season.
Carolina's average bars rotation of 48.981 is ranked 24th nationally and third in the ACC. The Tar Heels have been 49.0+ on bars in two of four meets.
Jessica Naranjo placed second on beam at Stanford on Jan. 31 with a 9.925. That bested her previous career-high of 9.875 from the 2024 ACC Championships. It moved her up to be tied for fourth all-time in program history.
Lali Dekanoidze scored a 9.975 on bars on Jan. 24 to match her own program record for the fourth time (and for the first time since 2023). The senior won bars for the 18th time in her career.
Dekanoidze's average bars score of 9.908 ranks first in the ACC, first in the Southeast Region and fifth in the country. She's one of only six gymnasts in the nation – and the only one in the ACC – to score a 9.975+ on bars so far this year.
Also in the ACC rankings is Isabelle Schaefer (sixth on bars, ninth on vault), Naranjo (eighth on beam) and Kaya Forbes (eighth on vault).
Dekanoidze and Julia Knower were named to the ACC Preseason Watch List for the second straight year. Valahovic was tabbed to the ACC Newcomer Watch List.

The Tar Heels were picked to finish fifth in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll. The team received one first-place vote. Clemson checked in at fourth.

Entering Sunday's contest, Clemson is ranked No. 24 nationally and No. 5 in the ACC – one spot behind North Carolina in both polls. In the conference, the Tigers currently sit at No. 4 on vault, beam and floor as well as No. 5 on bars.
