Sowards Qualifies For NCAAs As Individual

Chapel Hill, N.C. – University of North Carolina swimmer Elizabeth Sowards has been invited to the NCAA Championships as an individual, the meet organizers announced on Thursday. Sowards will join seven other swimmers, three divers and three relay alternates in Federal Way, Wash. for the meet March 19-22. She brings the women's team total to 11 individual qualifiers, which is the most for the program since 2016.
Sowards will swim the 100 back, 100 free and the relays for the Tar Heels. She ranks No. 6 all-time on UNC's list in the 100 back with a personal best of 51.73. She is also a member of the school-record holding squad in the 800 free relay.
