Women's Tennis Earns No. 2 Seed At ACCs

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—North Carolina finished second in the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference regular season standings and are the No. 2 seed in this week's ACC Women's Tennis Championship, which begins on Tuesday at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
As one of the top four seeds, the sixth-ranked Tar Heels have a double-bye to the quarterfinal round, where they will play No. 7 seed Stanford, No. 10 seed Miami or No. 15 seed Virginia Tech at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
Duke (20-2, 12-0 ACC) is the top seed, followed by No. 2 Carolina (20-4, 11-1 ACC), No. 3 NC State (15-5, 10-2 ACC) and No. 4 Virginia (18-4, 10-2 ACC), with NC State holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over Virginia with a 4-2 win in Raleigh on March 9.
Other tiebreakers consisted of California (9-3) earning the No. 5 seed over Notre Dame (9-3) by way of the Golden Bears' win over No. 4 Virginia on March 21, while the Fighting Irish fell to the Cavaliers on March 30.
A quintet of teams at 4-8 in league play for the No. 9-13 seeds, which were decided by the latest ITA Division I Women's Collegiate Tennis Team Rankings (April 8) – No. 9 Clemson (No. 37), No. 10 Miami (No. 55), No. 11 SMU (No. 56), No. 12 Louisville (No. 62) and No. 13 Florida State (No. 64).
The women's championship starts at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with No. 17 Boston College (5-17, 1-11 ACC) taking on No. 16 Syracuse (9-10, 2-10 ACC).
Four second-round matches will take place on Wednesday, April 16, beginning with No. 9 Clemson (14-10, 4-8 ACC) taking on the winner of Boston College and Syracuse on Bank 1 and No. 13 Florida State (13-9, 4-8 ACC) and No. 12 Louisville (12-9, 4-8 ACC) on Bank 2. Both of those matches will start at 10 a.m.
The second wave of second-round matches will commence at 12:30 p.m., with No. 15 Virginia Tech (13-11, 2-10 ACC) taking on No. 10 Miami (9-12, 4-8 ACC) on Bank 1 and No. 14 Wake Forest (14-12, 3-9 ACC) facing No. 11 SMU (12-13, 4-8 ACC) on Bank 2.
The third-round action will take place on Thursday, April 17, starting at 10 a.m. In the first matches, No. 8 Georgia Tech (12-10, 6-6 ACC) will face the winner of the Clemson versus either Boston College or Syracuse and No. 5 California (12-7, 9-3 ACC) will compete against the winner of the Louisville and Florida State matchup. Then, at 12:30 p.m., No. 7 Stanford (14-7, 7-5 ACC) will battle the winner of the Virginia Tech and Miami match, while No. 6 Notre Dame (19-4, 4-3 ACC) will take on the winner of the Wake Forest versus SMU match.
The four quarterfinal matches will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, with the winners advancing to the semifinals on Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m., with the match featuring the highest remaining seed airing on ACC Network Extra. Sunday's championship match is set for 10 a.m. and will air on ACC Network Extra.
One-day tickets are priced at $15 for adults (ages 18 and older) and $10 for children ages 17 and under and non-ACC college students with a valid school ID. Admission is free for children 8 and under and ACC college students with a school ID. A full championship pass for all six days is priced at $30.
All seating for the tournament is general admission.
