Softball Punches Ticket To ACC Tournament With 2-1 Win Over NC State

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Carolina softball (34-14, 11-8) punched its ticket to the 2025 ACC Softball Tournament by taking down NC State (22-24, 4-15) 2-1 on Thursday night at Anderson Softball Stadium.
Carolina took a 2-0 lead in the first inning courtesy of Carlie Myrtle who roped a single to right center which brought home Sanaa Thompson and Kat Rodriguez. She now sits at 51 RBI on the season which moved her into eleventh for the most RBI in a single season in UNC history. Rodriguez extended her on hit streak to eight.
Kenna Ray Dark improved to 14-7 on the season as she pitched 6+ innings of one run softball along with three strikeouts before handing the ball over to Nikki Harris who came on in the seventh inning in relief.
Harris picked up her second save of the season by getting the last batter to fly out to foul territory where Myrtle could snag the ball securing the win and the spot in Boston.
Softball looks to pick up its sixth straight win against the Wolfpack along with the series on Friday at 5:00 p.m. EST on ACCNX.
