No. 24 Rowing Tallies Multiple First-Place Finishes In Day One At Lake Wheeler Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. – Through the first day of the Lake Wheeler Invitational, No. 24 North Carolina rowing made a splash with multiple first place finishes in the opening day of competition. In a field of 18, the Tar Heels had three boats finish in first through the first two rounds.
"Overall it was a very good day of racing for the program at Lake Wheeler. Wanted to say particularly the 3v8 and the 2v4, both had wins in the morning," said head coach Erin Neppel. "The 2v4 with the win in the afternoon beat Virginia for the first time since 1998 which is pretty cool. Overall, the afternoon was a good showing for us. We have things we want to work on and hope to give it a great shot tomorrow."
The Tar Heels sit in sixth place with 28 total points, heading into tomorrow morning's final round.
Round three from Lake Wheeler Park begins tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. ET, streaming on ACC Network Extra.
