
Buchmann Represented Germany At 2025 Junior Fencing World Championships

WUXI, CHINA - Â Finn Buchmann competed for Germany at the 2025 Junior Fencing World Championships and finished 30th overall. Buchman posted a 4-2 record in the pool, earning the 50th seed out of the 156 fencers.Â
He came into this competition as the 80th-ranked junior fencer in the 2024-25 season and took down multiple fencers ranked ahead of him.
In the first round of the elimination portion of the tournament, taking on Alexandru Eva, from Romania, the 75th-ranked junior heading into the competition, besting him 15-13.Â
The freshman followed his win against the Romanian fencer by notching another win against a Turkish fencer, Kaloyan Peshev, 15-11. Peshev was ranked 75th heading into the competition.
Buchmann fell, 15-10, to Tomoaki Chano of Japan, who finished 14th overall. Buchmann also competed in the team fencing portion.
Team Germany entered the competition as the ninth seed and earned a B.Y.E for the first round. They matched up against Singapore in the round of thirty-two, winning 45-36. Buchmann fenced twice, helping Germany advance. Team Germany fell in the round of 16 to Hungary 45-33. Buchmann did not fence against Hungary.
