June 14, 2025 | Track & Field
EUGENE, ORE. Makayla Paige (1:58.97), the women's 800m silver medalist, was part of the greatest NCAA Championships 800m race, as every finalist ran the fastest time that a runner in final position has ever achieved during any NCAA Championships.Â
Paige ran the fifth-fastest time in NCAA history, lowering her school record for the fourth time this season to finish in second. Today's record marks the third time this postseason she has run under two minutes.
Paige earned her second first-team All-America honors of the season and third All-America honors of her career. The second-place finish was her best at the 2024 Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, as she had finished 14th the previous season.
Paige has had an indoor incredible season, winning the indoor 800m national championships and the Atlantic Coast Conference women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year award.
The women's team finished tied for 34th with eight points.
