WBB's Grant Invited To USA Women’s U19 Trials
June 5, 2025 | Women's Basketball
COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. – Making a splash in her debut collegiate campaign this past season with North Carolina women's basketball, rising sophomore Lanie Grant has earned an invitation to the USA Women's U19 Trials later this month.
One of 27 athletes selected, Grant has the opportunity to earn a spot on the 12-member roster which will travel to Brno, Czechia, for the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's World Cup from July 12-20.
No stranger to USA Basketball, Grant was a member of the 2023 USA U16 Team which went on to win a gold medal at the FIBA Americas U16 Americup. Throughout the tournament, Grant averaged 11.2 points per game. Last summer, Grant added a second gold medal to her collection at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women's World Cup in Mexico
In her first season at Carolina, Grant made an immediate impact on the court for the Tar Heels and went on to earn a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team. Appearing in all 37 games, she tallied 11 games in double-figure scoring and recorded a career-high 19 points in UNC's comeback win at Louisville. The Midlothian, Va., native also garnered national attention, earning USBWA Tamika Catchings Freshman of the Week honors in December.
Trials from Colorado Springs kick off on June 18, with the roster for the 2025 FIBA U19 squad to be released following trials.
