BUCHAREST, Romania – As the game of 3x3 women's basketball takes rise globally, former Tar Heels Carlie Littlefield and Alyssa Ustby are in on the action with the two joining the Seattle 3XBA Team for the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series in Bucharest this weekend.
3XBA launched in 2024 to provide professional opportunities on the women's FIBA 3x3 Tour as the game of 3x3 grows at a rapid rate.Â
Launching in 2010, 3x3 is a fast-paced basketball format played on a half-court with 10-minute games and a 12-second shot clock. The sport made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
Littlefield starred for the Tar Heels throughout the 2021-22 season as a graduate transfer, starting in all 32 games as Carolina went on to reach the Sweet 16. Following her time in Chapel Hill, Littlefield spent time with USA Basketball as a member of the USA roster for the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Women's Series. She also boasts additional international experience by playing in Belgium, Slovakia, Israel and Romania.
Ustby made her mark throughout her five seasons in Carolina blue, leaving as UNC's all-time leading rebounder. She also wrapped her career at No. 3 all-time in the ACC with 1,251 total rebounds. Ustby etched her name throughout the Tar Heel record book, ranking No. 7 at Carolina with an average of 8.5 rebounds per game and No. 8 with 140 blocks.
The duo joins Madison Scott and Sydney Taylor for the three-day event, running from Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13.
