Brantmeier & Hamilton Set To Begin US Open Thursday
August 27, 2025 | Women's Tennis
The University of North Carolina's Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton will begin play in the main draw of the US Open Women's Doubles on court 6 on Thursday at 11 a.m., the United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced this week.
Brantmeier and Hamilton will meet fellow Americans Thea Frodin and Kristina Penickova in the first round. Live coverage will be available on ESPN+.
Brantmeier, a Tar Heel senior, and Hamilton, a sophomore, clinched a main draw wild-card entry into the Open by winning the American Collegiate Wildcard Playoffs in mid-June. In that event at the USTA National Campus, the UNC duo edged Auburn's DJ Bennett and Ava Hrastar by a score of 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (10-5). The marathon match lasted over three-and-a-half hours.
Brantmeier and Hamilton earned All-America honors in the 2024-25 season as they finished the year ranked No. 2 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA's) doubles rankings while helping lead the Tar Heels to their second consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference championship and the NCAA Championship semifinals.
In the 2025-26 ITA preseason rankings released this week, Brantmeier and Hamilton grabbed the top doubles spot in the nation.
