WBB Signee Harpring Named To Naismith Trophy Girls' High School Player Of The Year Midseason Team

ATLANTA – Incoming Tar Heel Kate Harpring has earned a spot on the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Girls' High School Player of the Year Midseason Team, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. Harpring is set to join North Carolina women's basketball for the 2026-27 campaign out of the Marist School in Atlanta.
Harpring is one of 25 players across the nation to earn a spot on the midseason team.
Touted as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports and the No. 4 player by ESPN, the 5–10-point guard is prepared to make plenty of noise in Chapel Hill.
As a junior, Harpring was honored as the 2024-25 Gatorade Georgia Girls Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 32 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Experienced on the international circuit, Harpring assisted the USA U-19 team to a gold medal this past summer at the FIBA U19 World Cup in Brno, Czechia. Playing in seven games for the Red, White, and Blue, she averaged 8.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per outing in pursuit of the gold.
Most recently, Harpring earned a spot on the 2026 USA Women's Nike Hoop Summit Team. Harpring and Team USA will go head-to-head against a World Team of top international players on Saturday, April 11, at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
