Let's Dance! WBB Earns A No. 4 Seed In NCAA Tournament

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the sixth straight season and 33rd time overall, North Carolina women's basketball is headed to the Big Dance, earning a four seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament with the announcement of the 2026 Division I Women's Basketball Championship Bracket on Sunday night.
Seeded at No. 4 in the Fort Worth region, North Carolina, hosts No. 13 Western Illinois in the first round of the tournament on Friday. With a win, Carolina would either take on the victor of No. 5 seed Maryland against 12th seeded Murray State.
Heading to her 14th overall NCAA Tournament in 19 seasons as a head coach, Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels search to win two games in Chapel Hill to advance to Carolina's 20th overall Sweet 16.
The Tar Heels are coming off a Banghart-best 14 ACC wins for their most in a season since 2012-13, earning 13-plus league wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
Three Tar Heels earned ACC accolades, with Nyla Harris earning All-ACC First Team honors, followed by Indya Nivar with All-ACC Second Team and All-Defensive acclaim to highlight Carolina's upperclassmen. Making some noise in her rookie campaign, Nyla Brooks picked up honors on the All-Freshman team.
