Women’s Tennis Earns No. 5 Overall Seed In NCAA Tournament

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the 27th consecutive season, Carolina women's tennis is going dancing. The NCAA announced the field for the 2026 NCAA Tennis Championships Monday afternoon where the Tar Heels earned the no. 5 overall seed. The team will host one of 16 regional sites May 1-2 at Chewning Tennis Center.
Fifth-seeded UNC will host Charleston Southern, Maryland, and South Carolina in the Chapel Hill Regional this Friday and Saturday.
Maryland and South Carolina will meet in the first match Friday at 1 p.m. with the Tar Heels following at 4 p.m. against Charleston Southern.
Friday's first-round winners will then clash on Saturday at 4 p.m. with a trip to the NCAA Super Regional on the line.
Carolina enters the tournament with a 24-3 overall record winning eight of their last 10 matches. The Tar Heels previously fell in a tightly contested match against NC State in the ACC Tournament Semifinal.
