Nyla Brooks Headed To USA Basketball 3x3 Women’s Development Camp
May 5, 2026 | Women's Basketball
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The work never stops, as North Carolina's Nyla Brooks is set to head West to participate in USA Basketball's 3x3 women's development camp in Phoenix this week. The rising sophomore guard for the Tar Heels heads into camp looking to earn a spot in next weekend's USA Basketball 3X Women's Showcase.
Making a splash in her freshman season, Brooks appeared in all 36 games for Carolina, averaging 8.6 points per game and shooting 36.6% from the floor. The Maryland native knocked down 63 triples, the most by a Tar Heel freshman since the 2015-16 season.
Scoring in double-figures in 18 games, Brooks went on to pick up a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team.
USA Basketball development camps are designed for athletes to hone their skills in a competitive and educational environment, with action in Phoenix to take place May 6-8. Those selected for the 3X showcase will head down the road to Mesa for games held May 9-10.
Different than 5-on-5, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams "clear" the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
