Tar Heels To Host LSU In Annual SEC/ACC Challenge

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After a year on the road, North Carolina women's basketball returns home for the 2026 SEC/ACC Challenge with LSU to visit Carmichael Arena to take on the Tar Heels on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
Carolina squares off against LSU for the first time since 2016 and for the fourth time overall. December's meeting will be the first time the Tar Heels take on the Tigers on their home court. The challenge is back in Chapel Hill for the third time and first since the Tar Heels took down then No. 14 Kentucky in 2024.
Revitalized under head coach Kim Mulkey, LSU has reached the Sweet 16 in each of the last four years while rattlling off 25-plus wins in the last five seasons.
The Tar Heels enter year eight of the Courtney Banghart era coming off back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances and a best of 14 ACC wins for the most since 2012-13.
Eight returners are back in the fold, while Carolina hit the portal to add Achol Akot, Sophie Burrows, Chloe Clardy and Gabby White. The youth is set to shine with top recruits in Noelle Bofia and Kate Harpring set to don Carolina Blue.
