2017 (Senior): Returned to the roster at the end of the fall to serve as UNC’s backup catcher • Played in 17 games as a senior, making 13 appearances behind the plate including six starts • Had a single, two walks, three sacrifice bunts and an RBI in 13 at-bats • Picked up her first career hit against Illinois (2/11), one of just three Tar Heel base hits in the game • Drew a bases-loaded walk as a pinch hitter against No. 21 Pittsburgh (3/4) for her first career RBI • Turned an inning-ending double play on a popped-up squeeze bunt against Miami (OH) in the sixth inning to help the Heels to an 8-7 comeback victory.
2015-16 (Manager): Left the team for medical reasons, but continued on as a team manager and bullpen catcher for three semesters, before studying abroad in Scotland in Spring, 2016.
2014 (Freshman): Played catcher for the Tar Heels but did not see any game action.
Prep: Named all-conference and all-state all four years in high school • Named YVAC scholar-athlete four years • As a sophomore, she became the first recorded NCHSAA player to hit two grand slams in the same inning, which also tied a national record • Tied for the No. 4 spot nationally with eight RBIs in that same inning • Batted over .400 all four years in high school • Posted a .915 slugging percentage as a senior • Named the MVP of her volleyball team as a senior • Finished third in the discus throw at the state championships her sophomore year.
Personal: Born Erin Elizabeth Sugg on Aug. 18 in Chapel Hill, N.C. • Daughter of Ray and Amy Sugg • Her older sister also attended UNC • Participates in the Richard A. Baddour Leadership Academy as a CREED Mentor • Majoring in Exercise and Sport Science.
