One of the top place-kickers in Carolina history. Accurate and dependable. Has made 35 of 51 field goal attempts in his career (68.6 percent). He is fourth in UNC history with 35 field goals. Clint Gwaltney holds the record with 43. In his career, McGee is 18 for 20 for field goals inside 30 yards, 28 of 34 inside of 40 yards and 7 of 14 from 40-plus yards. Is 100 for 104 in point after attempts. Is tied for 10th place in Carolina history with 205 points. Tied for third place among place-kickers in scoring at Carolina with Jeff Hayes. Tripp Pignetti holds the career scoring record for UNC kickers with 231 points.
1998 • Junior Season
Made 14 of 18 field goals. The 14 field goals equaled the fifth-most in a season by a Tar Heel. Tore his right anterior cruciate ligament playing touch football in mid-October. Made all three of his field goal attempts and all three PATs against Wake Forest five days after the injury. After the knee injury, he made nine of 12 field goals in the regular season and two of three attempts in the Las Vegas Bowl. Tied a UNC single-season record by making all 30 of his point after attempts. Missed one PAT in the Las Vegas Bowl, but the attempt followed a 15-yard penalty on the Tar Heels. Longest field goals of the season were 42 yards at Stanford and Florida State. Was 9 for 9 in field goal attempts inside of 30 yards and 12 of 14 inside 40 yards.
1997• Sophomore Season
Converted 12 of 16 regular-season field goal attempts and 34 of 36 extra-point tries. Longest field goal of the season was a 46-yarder against Florida State. Made 22 consecutive extra point attempts after missing in the season opener against Indiana. Made two field goals in wins over Virginia and at Georgia Tech. Nailed a 31-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter against the Yellow Jackets that proved to be the winning margin in UNC’s 16-13 victory. Booted a 29-yard field goal in the 42-3 Gator Bowl victory over Virginia Tech. Was 6 for 7 in field goals less than 30 yards, 5 of 6 from the 30- to 39-yard range and 1 of 3 in field goals over 40 yards.
1996• Freshman Season
Red-shirt freshman made 9 of 17 regular-season field goal attempts and 36 of 38 point after tries. Tied the UNC record for longest field goal by a freshman with a 49-yarder at Wake Forest. Six of his eight misses were from 40 yards or longer. Was 5 for 7 inside of 40 yards. Had two field goals in two different games. Was 2 for 2 in the 27-10 win at No. 9-ranked Syracuse and 2 for 3 in the 27-10 win at Duke. Made four field goals of 40 yards or longer. Overcame a bout with the flu at the Gator Bowl and kicked a pair of field goals in UNC’s 20-13 win over West Virginia. Did not practice for several days prior to the game because of the flu. Made a 22-yard field goal early in the second quarter to give UNC a 10-0 lead and a 20-yard field goal in the third quarter to up the lead to 20-10. Was red-shirted in 1995.

Connected on nine of 15 field goal attempts as a senior, including nine of 11 inside 50 yards. Also won two letters in soccer.
Personal
Born Joshua Ray McGee on July 29, 1977. Majoring in applied sciences. Favorite pro team is the Denver Broncos. Favorite athletes are John Elway, Morten Andersen and Fred Couples. Greatest athletic achievement was kicking against Wake Forest after he tore his ACL. The people who have influenced him the most are his parents, James H. and Katherine McGee. Other favorite sport is golf. Says the most difficult part of kicking is focusing on nothing but the ball. Post-college ambition is to be an actuary. Says the word that best describes him is "accountable." Hobbies are playing soccer, computers and talking nutrition.
