• Davey has been a phenomenal addition for us.
• His work ethic is tremendous. His effort day in and day out was spectacular in fall ball.
• He's a guy that understands the game and sees the field so well. He gets to spots where he can contribute, whether its feeding or finishing and he's a great shooter.
• He's a player that quietly comes up with three or four points in a scrimmage or a game consistently. He really puts forth a tremendous amount of effort to make himself a better player.
General: 5-11, 185-pound attackman who is a transfer from Georgetown University...joins the Tar Heels will two years of eligibility remaining.
2011 (Sophomore): A second-team All-Big East Conference selection as a sophomore...led Georgetown in scoring with 48 points...played in all 14 games for the Hoyas, starting 13 games...had 35 goals for the team lead in that category...was second on the GU roster with 13 assists...scored his 35 goals on 85 shots, a percentage of .412...led the Hoyas with eight man-up goals on the season...was credited with 25 ground balls...was named Big East Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and recording a career-high six assists in a 12-9 win over Rutgers..tied for 16th in the nation in points per game with 3.43, which was second in the Big East Conference...he led the Big East in 2011 and was seventh nationally with an average of 2.50 goals per game...had three goals against Jacksonville in the season opener to go along with three ground balls...had three goals and two assists versus St. John's...scored five goals versus Harvard...in the next game, against Syracuse, he had another five-goal effort and picked up a career-high five ground balls...had two goals and an assists versus Providence...had four goals and an assist versus Duke...had a hat trick against Yale.
2010 (Sophomore): Appeared in nine games, starting one against Mount St. Mary's ... finished the season with seven points ... scored six goals and had one assist ... recorded a pair of hat tricks ... scored three goals in the win at Navy ... followed that up with three goals and an assist for four points against Mount St. Mary's.
Prep: A standout lacrosse player who also played football and hockey at the Gilman School ... an All-America selection in lacrosse where he played for Tar Heel alumnus Brooks Matthews...had 104 goals and 20 assists in his Gilman career (30g, 10a in 2009; 56g, 8a in 2008; 18g, 12a in 2007) ... also earned 2008 and 2009 All-Metro, 2007 All-City and All-County honors on the lacrosse field ... helped lead Gilman to the MIAA Championship in 2009 when he was the lax team captain ... also was a part of the MIAA title-winning teams in hockey as a freshman and football as a sophomore...played four years of football as a quarterback and safety, two years of ice hockey as a forward and four years of lacrosse as an attackman...captain of football team as a senior when he was named first-team All-City...participated in Our Daily Bread community service project.
Personal: Born on September 8, 1990 in Baltimore, Md. ... David Redmond Emala is the son of Joannie and David Emala ... has two sisters and a brother...political science major...his father played football and baseball at Johns Hopkins and is a member of JHU Hall of Fame in baseball...was drafted by Baltimore Orioles and advanced as high as AAA team...his grandfather, C.S. Finney, was an All-America football and lacrosse player at Princeton and along with Jim Brown of Syracuse are the only two players to be named All-America in both sports...sister Nina played field hockey and lacrosse at Gettysburg, earning All-America honors in lacrosse and sister Allie played lacrosse at Virginia Tech where she was All-ACC her senior year.

1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel lacrosse player is the chance to compete for a national championship every year.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach Breschi is his intensity.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is creativity.
4. My best friend on another college lacrosse team is Peter Zouck.
5. My greatest strength as a lacrosse player is my competitive nature.

1. Away from the lacrosse field and academic pursuits I like to spend time with my family.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is MacGruber.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be football.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is Mez.
5. The personal interest I have that might surprise my teammates is I like to play golf.

1. After a game at Fetzer Field, I'd like to see a tailgate spread that included sandwiches.
2. My favorite beverage is chocolate milk.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is my grandmother's crab cakes.
4. My favorite place to eat in Chapel Hill is IP3.
5. My favorite guilty pleasure food wise is Chipotle.
