Jordan is coming off a great year. Midway through last year he moved into the starting lineup, so he should be coming in with a tremendous amount of confidence. He's a tough kid.
I challenged him to really take his game to the next level and to commit to being great.
He's got great stick skills. A good one-on-one defender who plays with tenacity.
General: A tremendous close defenseman who started during the second half of his freshman year... 6-1, 190-pound defenseman.
2011 (Freshman): Played in 15 games as a freshman...earned seven starting assignments at close defense...earned his first start against Dartmouth on March 22...also started the last six games of the season...Inside Lacrosse Magazine second-team All-Freshman selection...had eight ground balls and four caused turnovers...his top game of the season ground ball wise was three against Notre Dame.
Prep: One of the nation's top recruits in 2010...played defense at Forsyth Country Day School for coach Michael Burnett, a 1983 UNC alumnus...2010 Under Armour All-America selection...first-team All-State selection his senior year...four-time All-Conference honoree...three-time team MVP...thrice named All-County...also played football where he was team MVP and All-Conference and All-County selections...led squads to two conference titles in lacrosse and one in football...led team to three state playoff appearances...Team Carolina member for three years...2009 Evo Games defensive MVP...chosen for Jake Reed's Blue Chip camp in 2008 and 2009...named to academic honor roll.
Community Service & Leadership: Member of boys' service club for four years and student-athlete service club for two years...National Youth Leadership Forum member.
Personal: Jordan Alexander Smith is the son of Moyer Gray Smith, Jr. and Julianna Carder Smith...was born June 15, 1991 in High Point, N.C. ...younger brother of Gray Smith, a redshirt junior defenseman for UNC...his grandfather, Moyer Smith, was a football player, assistant football coach, associate athletic director and president of the Educational Foundation at Carolina...also has a second brother and a sister...business administration major.

1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel lacrosse player is representing the state of North Carolina.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach Breschi is his enthusiasm.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is strength.
4. My best friend on another college lacrosse team is Evan Bozymski (Bucknell).
5. My greatest strength as a lacrosse player is footwork.

1. Away from the lacrosse field and academic pursuits I like to spend time watching movies.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is The Town.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be football.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is Jimmy Buffett.

1. After a game at Fetzer Field, I'd like to see a tailgate spread that included BBQ and sweet tea.
2. My favorite beverage is Cheerwine.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is my grandmother's pound cake.
4. My favorite place to eat in Chapel Hill is Top of the Hill.
