Bio
General: Three-time returning letter winner...tremendous on the wing on face-offs...Coach Breschi says he hopes Tate gets back to his sophomore year All-America potential as he heads into his senior year...did a nice job of improving in the playoff run late in the season as he helped lead to Carolina to an NCAA title as one of the team’s top short-stick defensive midfielders...a great athlete who really understands the defensive end.
2016 (Junior): Played in 17 games as a junior...led UNC’s short-stick defensive midfielders with 28 ground balls and eight caused turnovers...scored goals against Hofstra and Virginia...had season-high three ground balls against Michigan, Furman, Johns Hopkins and Marquette...was a first-team preseason All-America selection by Face-Off Yearbook at the short stick defensive midfield position...named preseason All-ACC in vote by conference’s five head coaches.
2015 (Sophomore): Third-team All-America as a short stick defensive midfielder as named by the USILA...Carolina’s top short stick defensive midfielder on the depth chart...played in all 17 games...scored five goals and had five assists for 10 points...finished fifth on the team with 43 ground balls...also caused 12 turnovers...named NCAA.com national defensive player of the week after the Tar Heels beat top-ranked Denver 12-10...also named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week on March 2, 2015 after victory over Denver...scored twice in regular-season game against Maryland...each of his five assists was in a different game...had a goal and an assist in win over Denver...had a career high five ground balls in win over Pioneers...had four ground balls against Manhattan, Bryant and Duke and three ground balls in five other games...had a season high two caused turnovers against Bryant and in ACC Tournament game versus Syracuse...earned membership on UNC Dean’s List...active in Carolina Leadership Academy as a Rising Star.

Prep: 2013 Under Armour All-America selection…graduate of The Governor’s Academy in Byfield, Massachusetts...was coached by Peter Bidstrup...MVP of both football and lacrosse teams…played four years of lacrosse there in the midfield…in 2013, he was an All-America selection and the Independent School League (Boston Area) Player of the Year…team MVP as a senior…led team to ISL championships in both 2011 and 2012…ISL honorable mention selection both of those seasons...All-NESLL selection…finished his career at Governor’s Academy with 133 goals, 112 assists and 347 ground balls (44 goals, 14 assists, 96 gbs as a senior; 19 goals, 15 assists, 64 gbs as a junior; 70 goals, 83 assists, 187 gbs in freshman and sophomore years combined)…honor roll selection in eight semesters…dorm prefect his senior year…won the Goodwin Award as the top male athlete at the Governor’s Academy...Dean’s List honoree...member of high honor roll.
Personal: Tate Michael Jozokos is the son of Matt and Amber Jozokos...has one sister, Marina, 19…was born April 4, 1994 in Dover, N.H. …has double major in Management & Society and economics…his father is a member of the Plymouth State Hall of Fame where he was a two-time Division III All-America in football…his sister, Marina, was selected to the USA Hockey Development Camps in 2011 and 2012...was a member of the Rising Stars program in the Carolina Leadership Academy.

My favorite thing about wearing Carolina Blue is being a part of a family.
I love competing for this incredible coaching staff because they are all great people.
My most underrated strength about my lacrosse game is my shooting.
My best friend on my high school lacrosse team was Ryan Macri and he is now playing at UNC as my Tar Heel teammate.
Every high school recruit should dream of becoming a Tar Heel because it is the best place on earth.
Section #2: Your Interests
An ideal Saturday afternoon in the summer is spent on the lake.
My teammate with the best taste in music is Bones because he is a DJ.
My favorite professional sports team is the Miami Dolphins.
The best movie I’ve ever seen on a lacrosse bus trip is Remember the Titans.
The foreign country I would love to visit most is Australia because of the people.

My favorite tailgate food is wings.
My favorite fast food restaurant is McDonald’s because of its french fries.
Sweet, salty or both? Sweet. Who doesn’t like sweet.
My favorite food made by a relative is Auntie Kathy’s pies.

If I possessed the gift of time travel, I would go to New York in the 1920s.
The person in history I would most want to have dinner with is Dan Marino.

The most interesting or fascinating person I’ve met in my time at UNC is Brian Balkam because of his character.
