General: An outstanding all-around athlete...one of the team’s four captains in 2001...Carolina’s top faceoff specialist each of the past three seasons...also an outstanding defender...three-year letterman...goes into the 2001 season ranked third all-time in UNC history with 290 faceoffs won in his career.
2000 Season: Won the Holmes Harden, Sr. Memorial Award as the team’s top ground ball producer last season...had 70 for the season...started all 14 games for the Tar Heels...won 101 of 184 faceoffs on the season for .549 percent...his best faceoff game was 14 of 18 against Penn...also won 12 of 16 against Delaware...has a season high nine ground balls against Penn and seven each against Fairfield and Maryland...had at least four ground balls in all but two games...had a season high four takeaways against Hofstra...won 66 percent or more of his faceoffs on six occasions.
1999 Season: Played in 14 games for the Tar Heels, missing only the Butler game because of an injury...led the team in faceoffs won with 99, faceoffs attempted with 177 and was second in faceoff percentage at .559...scored his only goal of the season against Air Force and had his sole assist against Johns Hopkins...won a career-high 18 faceoffs against Delaware...also took a career high 26 faceoffs in that game...the 18 faceoffs he won in that game are the second most in a game in UNC history.
1998 Season: Started in nine of the 15 games in which he played as a freshman...had one of his career best games against Navy, totaling 12 ground balls...won 90 of 162 faceoffs on the season...had a .556 faceoff percentage...completed the season with 56 ground balls and four takeaways.
Prep: Lettered four years in lacrosse as a midfielder at Darien High School...lettered three years in football...played quarterback his sophomore year and tailback his junior and senior years...played on football and lacrosse teams which both won state championships his senior year...as a senior in lacrosse he was Connecticut high school player of the year as well as an all-county, all-state and all-America selection...was also the team most valuable player and he played in the national high school North-South game...on the gridiron, he broke the state rushing record his senior year with 1,800 yards gained...was also on the honor roll all four years in high school.
