Anthony Parker is in his third year as an Assistant coach of the jumps. During Coach Parker's first two seasons at Carolina, he coached Austin Davis to two All-American honors, a 2009 Indoor ACC Championship title, two All ACC honors (indoors & outdoors), and an indoor school record in the triple jump. In the same two-year period, Coach Parker coached Michelle Newman to an All ACC honor in the women's triple jump. He has had nine NCAA indoor qualifiers, 10 NCAA regional qualifiers, and five National qualifiers over the pass two seasons.
Coach Parker served as the Head coach for the Republic of Haiti's Track and Field team at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, Germany. Coach Parker was also the Head Coach of the Haitian 2008 Olympic team in Beijing, China. He has coached for the Caribbean and Central American Games where two of Haiti's athletes won bronze. He has been a two-time World Championship team Head coach for Haiti. Lastly, he coached the National record holder of Haiti in the 60-hurdles and 100-hurdles to an indoors personal best of 7.99 seconds.
Prior to joining the Tar Heels, Coach Parker coached at Rend Lake Junior College during the 2007 indoor season. While there, he coached seven athletes to 17 different NJCAA national qualifying events. Five out of the seven athletes received All- American honors in a combination of seven events. Of those seven events Coach Parker's athletes claimed two NJCAA championships in the long Jump and the indoor men's pentathlon. The team finished second in the nation during that indoor season.
Parker was also a member of the University of Texas Women's Track and Field team staff. During his time there, the Longhorns women's team captured the 2005 NCAA Championship Outdoor Title, the 2006 Indoor Big XII Championship Title, the 2006 NCAA Championship Indoor Title, the 2006 Outdoor Big XII championship Title, the 2005 and 2006 Outdoor Mid-West Regional Championship Titles.
Early in his coaching career, Coach Parker worked at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, N.C. as an assistant coach. Under his tutelage, the girl's and boy's teams both captured the state championship title with the girl's winning their very first state championship.
Coach Parker was an Assistant coach of the GW Express. With the GW Express, Coach Parker had the opportunity to coach and help numerous Olympians and World Championship participants. He assisted in the coaching of a two-time USA Indoor Champion in the triple jump and USA World Championship qualifier, who jumped a personal best of 57 feet and 3 inches. Coach Parker also assisted the 2001 USA Nationals 400 runner-up who ran a personal best of 44.45 and was a member of the World Championship Outdoor 4 X 400-meter gold medal relay team.
Coach Parker is a certified USA Track and Field Coach in Level I (sprints, hurdles, and jumps) and Level II (jumps). He is a graduate of St. Augustine's College located in North Carolina, where he majored in Human Performance and Wellness. He resides in the Raleigh area with his wife Nadine Faustin-Parker.
