A member of the team from 1999-2002, Ian Douglas is in his second year on the Carolina staff and helps coach the throwing events. He is a five-time ACC champion in the shot put.

In 2001: In indoor, won the ACC Championship with a 58-10 3/4 shot put toss ... Won the shot put competition at Penn State with a throw of 59-9 ... In outdoor, finished 1st in the ACC Championships in the shot put (59-0 1/4) ... Placed 5th at the A CC Championships in the discus with a throw of 165-1 ... Seven first-place finishes throughout the year ... Threw a 176-0 hammer throw to finish 5th in the 49er Classic ... In 1998: Won the shot put at the UNC Invitational an d the USTCA Cup with marks of 52-9 1/4 and 56-1 3/4, respectively ... His mark of 56-1 3/4 at the USTCA Cup placed him fifth in UNC's record books ... Finished third at the outdoor ACC Championships in the shot put (56-0) ... Placed sixth at the UNC Invit ational in the hammer with a mark of 144-11 ... Best mark in the discus was 155-9 at the Raleigh Relays, with which he earned eighth place ... Finished sixth in the shot put (52-1 3/4) at the Junior Nationals.
