Amelia Hundley is in her second season with Carolina in 2022-23. Her responsibilities include coaching the Tar Heels' uneven bar performers and choreographing all of the floor routines.
Hundley, who joined the Carolina gymnastics program as an assistant coach in July 2021, was named the 2022 East Atlantic Gymnastics League Assistant Coach of the Year in her first year in Chapel Hill.
During her second season at Carolina in 2023, Hundley coached Lali Dekanoidze to WCGA Regular Season First Team All-America honors on bars, just the fifth Tar Heel all-time to reach All-America status. The Tar Heels earned back-to-back NCAA Regional team berths both seasons with Hundley on staff.
A four-time All-American and two-time All-SEC honoree at the University of Florida, Hundley led the Gators to Southeastern Conference regular-season titles in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, she served as a student assistant coach as the Gators won the 2021 SEC title and NCAA team final.
"I am absolutely honored to have the opportunity to work with Danna and be a part of her coaching staff," said Hundley. "I have always admired her coaching style and believe she knows what it takes to create the best student athlete experience both on-and-off the competition floor."
Before her time as a Gator, Hundley won a gold medal in the 2012 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships as a junior international elite gymnast on Team USA.
A three-time gold medalist, she picked up her second and third gold medals as part of Team USA in 2014 Pan-American Championships in Mississauga and 2015 Pan-American Games.
"I have always admired the culture the UNC gymnastics program encompasses, and it has been impressive to watch it grow into what it is today. I am excited to continue on that legacy while helping the athletes reach their full potential," said Hundley.
Her decorated career continued with bronze medals at the 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto for her showing on uneven bars and the 2016 Stuttgart World Cup for her all-around performance.
