CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Juana Brown scored nine of her 29 points during a 2:04 span, helping No. 14 North Carolina beat Wake Forest 88-66 Sunday.
LaQuanda Barksdale added 24 points for North Carolina.
North Carolina (21-3, 8-3) went 0-for-11 from the floor during a 7:11 stretch of the second half as Wake Forest twice whittled a double-digit margin to three points.
Wake Forest was within 59-56 after a jumper and free-throw by Emon McMillan with 8:45 left. Brown then went on a 7-0 run, capped by a 3-pointer with 7:38 remaining. She scored another basket with 6:36 remaining during a 15-2 North Carolina spurt.
Wake Forest never got closer than 82-66 in the final 5:21.
McMillan's team-high 17 wasn't enough to prevent Wake Forest (6-14, 2-8) from its sixth straight loss, all in conference play.
Wake Forest trailed 24-19 following a layup by Adell Harris with 7:37 remaining in the half. North Carolina countered with a 14-4 run for a 38-23 lead. North Carolina led 47-32 at halftime.
