Brown Named ACC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Tar Heel guard Juana Brown, a sophomore from Memphis, Tenn., has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Womens Basketball Player of the Week.
Brown averaged 22.0 points and shot .607 percent from the field (17 of 28) in the team's first two games, a 76-58 win over No. 11 Kansas in the State Farm Tip-Off Classic on Sunday and a 85-71 victory against Akron on Friday. Against Kansas, Brown shot 10-of-17 from the field, including four-of-six from three-point range, and led the Tar Heels with a career-high 27 points. She also added four rebounds (all on the offensive boards), two assists and a steal.
In Friday's season-opener against Akron, Brown tied for the team-high with 17 points and added five rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals.
