Tar Heels Finish Second Round Before Play Is Suspended

AUBURN, Ala. -- The second round of the Ping/Golfweek NCAA Preview Men's Golf Tournament was interrupted for a total of two hours on two separate rain delays today, and because of darkness three teams will complete their rounds on Tuesday morning at 7 am. Those teams that were unable to complete their rounds were the University of New Mexico, Auburn University, and the University of Florida.
Due to the incomplete rounds, there are no official standings after the second round, however first-round team leader Clemson, ranked No. 1 in the nation by Golfweek, finished their day with a 4-under total of 284 for a two day score of 13-under 563. Three shots back of Clemson is 14th ranked Northwestern, which shot 7-under 281 for a two day total of 10-under 566. The 12th ranked North Carolina Tar Heels were able to complete their second round with a total of 299, after shooting a 306 total on Sunday giving them a two-day total of 605.
Atop the individual leaderboard is a tandem of Clemson Tigers, as Lucas Glover finished the day at a 5-under 67 to give him the lead at a 6-under 138 total. Teammate D.J. Trahan (68-72-140) is in a three-way tie for second place with Jess Daley of Northwestern (71-69-140) and Brandon Di Tullio of UCLA (70-70-140). Leading the way for North Carolina is Paul Daniel who entered the day tied for 6th place and finished the day with a total of 74 which gives him a two-day total of 144.
Resumed second round play will begin at 7 am Tuesday morning, immediately followed by a shotgun start for the third and final round.
