CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The 1999-2000 University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team will kick off its season this Saturday night when the Tar Heels play host to the UNC Alumni Team at 8 p.m. The game will be played at the new Francis E. Henry Stadium at UNC under the light. Admission is free and all are welcome to come.
Coach Dave Klarmann's team, led by a veteran group of six seniors, is expected to show marked improvement as the Tar Heels seek a return to NCAA Tournament action after being left out of the tourney field last season for only the second time since 1979.
UNC will continue its fall schedule on October 9 when the Tar Heels take on four opponents in one-hour scrimmages as part of the Loyola College Tournament at the McDonough School in Baltimore.
The Tar Heels are expected to be led in 2000 by a senior class which includes Todd Maher, Matt Crofton, Chase Martin, Kevin Mehm, Jordan Herrick and Hunter Lewis.
