CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -
Ward Marslender, from Raleigh, N.C., and Doug Kingston, from Bethlehem, Pa., have signed letters-of-intent to play collegiate golf at the University of North Carolina beginning in 2001-02.
Marslender, the eighth ranked junior in North Carolina, has played on three state high school championship teams at Broughton High School. His highest individual finish came in 1999 when he was the runner-up.
"Ward has a very solid game," says Tar Heel Head Coach John Inman. "He is very athletic and competitive and will be a great addition to our team."
Kingston, who plays high school golf at Moravian Academy, has a great deal of national tournament experience. He finished sixth at the prestigious Western Junior and has won on the AJGA circuit.
"Doug is a very driven competitor with solid mechanics and a good head on his shoulders," says Inman. "He brings with him a great work ethic and will add to the great legacy of North Carolina golf."
