Tyrell Godwin has been selected by the Texas Rangers as the 35th selection in the Major League Baseball draft. Godwin is one of ten "sandwich" picks at the end of the first round.

Godwin is the first ACC player selected in the draft.

The Morehead Scholar, a junior from Council, N.C., hit .363 with 67 RBI and 11 home runs during the 2000 season.
