Alge Crumpler (Sr. TE): "It's a lot different feeling than it was this time last year. It's a confidence builder, that's number one. You saw that in the locker room after the game, but a lot of the older guys still had that focused look because we've still got eleven more games to play.
"I really don't like to dwell on the past, but those two opening losses the last two years really dampened our outlook on the season. Getting that victory under our belt was really important, now it's time for us to move on.
"I felt the offense played well under the circumstances, considering the rain kind of dampened our game plan just a little. We saw some looks we weren't expecting, but we were prepared for them.
"We kept a very basic offensive package tonight. We didn't show a lot of things we could have, but we got a victory, and that's the key thing right now. I feel great right now.
"We've got a big conference game with Wake Forest next week. We know they'll be prepared for us. They sure were last year."
Willie Parker (Fr. TB): "Right now I'm just happy because we won. I thought we played well, but we have a lot of things we need to improve on. We made some mistakes, but they can be corrected. This is the happiest I've been in a long time."
"Merceda Perry (Sr. LB): "It's a great feeling to win our first game, because it's something we haven't done since '97. It's good to start out on a good note, and now we've got to keep improving. We need to work on the little things. We had some opportunities for interceptions tonight and didn't get them."
Ronald Curry (Jr. QB): "It's a whole different feeling after winning our first game. It's good to be 1-0, and now we have to keep on winning.
"I just cherish every moment when I'm out there now. I was pumped up when I got out there. I was pumped up when Willie (Parker) was scoring, and I was pumped up when Antwon (Black) was in. I'm just glad to be back on the field. Hopefully, some good things will happen for this team."
