
Track & Field News Names Marion Jones Woman Of The Year

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - A total of seven former Carolina athletes made the 2000 World and U.S. Rankings published by Track & Field News. The Tar Heels were led by Marion Jones who has ranked number one the world in both the 100m and the 200m for an unprecedented four years in a row. Lynda Lipson-Blutriech repeats as the U.S. leader in the javelin and Allen Johnson regains the number 1 spot in the U.S in the 110m hurdles. Olympic gold medallists LaTasha Colander-Richardson and Monique Hennegan are the newest entries to the 400m U.S rankings and Nicole Gamble improves from fourth to second in the U.S rankings for the triple jump.
