University of North Carolina freshman guard Brian Morrison sprained his right ankle Thursday in practice and likely will not be able to play when the Tar Heels travel to Florida State tomorrow afternoon.
Morrison is averaging 4.1 points per game and is tied for third on the team with 11 three-point baskets. The Redmond, Wash., native scored nine points and played outstanding defense in Carolina's 92-65 win over Clemson on January 17.
UNC basketball trainer Marc Davis said x-rays taken Friday morning did not show any fracture. It is unlikely Morrison will play at Florida State, but he could return as early as next week for the Virginia game on January 24.
