Adam Boone Quotes

Sophomore guard Adam Boone
On starting last season:
"I'm not going to say I expected to start. It was definitely a goal of mine because I knew the opportunity would be there but I didn't expect to and I enjoyed doing so.
"When you are going through it you don't internalize it as being a great achievement. Obviously it was, but when you are going through it you kind of get star struck if you take that in and think about who the other guys were. So, I just try to do what I felt I was capable of doing.
"The hardest part of starting as a freshman is that there are so many unknowns. I've played a lot of basketball in my life and I didn't think it was going to be too different. But, there is no level like the ACC. There is nothing to prepare you, you just have to come out and experience it. Having that experience is a big strength that you can only get from playing."
On the strongest facet of the team:
"I think our strongest asset is that we are going to be hungry. People are underestimating us and our ability. I think we are going to come out and play hard 40 minutes. A lot of teams say that, but I truly think this team will do that."
On the most memorable moment as a Tar Heel thus far:
"I'd say beating Duke especially at Duke was my most memorable moment. At the time, it put us in sole possession of first place in the ACC. I think that win was my personal and I'm sure as a team, our best moment of last year."
On the Tar Heel freshmen:
"I think all three of them can put the ball in the basket. They'll all be strengths to add to this team."
On his off-season workouts:
"I worked on every part of my game, especially my ball handling, shooting - all the things that are expected out of the point guard. I tried to get a little bit stronger and do all the things that I think are necessary for an ACC guard."
On personal and team goals:
"As a team we want to win everything we step foot in. We would like to win the ACC (regular-season) championship, the ACC Tournament and NCAA Championship. Those are our team goals. Personally, I just want to play as much as possible."
On Duke's national championship:
"It was difficult because I know we had the talent to be there and win the national championship. Beating them in their gym obviously showed that. What probably made it the hardest is knowing that we could have put it together. It was frustrating to see them win knowing that we didn't end the season the way we would have liked to end it."
On team scoring:
"I think we have the guys that can score consistently. We have a lot of guys who can shoot on this team. Almost everybody that we put on the floor will be a threat to score. Sometimes not knowing can be a strength because we'll have people step up.
"I think definitely the seniors will be leaders in scoring and everything else on and off the court. They are going to be the guys putting the ball in the basket consistently."
On Jason Capel:
"He can score. I think the "go-to" guy is usually a guy with confidence, believe in himself and a guy that can put the ball in the basket. He definitely fits that criteria."
Jonathan Holmes on Adam Boone
"I think Adam has a lot of strengths. He's strong and defensively his arms are so long that he is able to cover a lot of ground. You think you have a move to get by him but his arms are so long that he is still right there with you. I think his shot has improved since last year. He's such a smart player. I really don't think he has too many weaknesses."
