CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina's men's lacrosse team will be back in action again this Saturday night when the Tar Heels travel to Newark, Del. to play the Fightin' Blue Hens of the University of Delaware. The game will mark the third successive Saturday that Coach John Haus' Tar Heels have taken to the road. Last Saturday Carolina claimed its first road win in almost two year with an 11-10 triumph over Navy.
Game time is 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
UNC (2-1) and Delaware have met 11 previous times in men's lacrosse and the Tar Heels lead the all-time series 6-5. Carolina won last year's game in Chapel Hill 8-7. The last time the two teams played in Newark, Del., the Blue Hens beat the Tar Heels in an 18-16 slugfest in 1999. That was Delaware's first win over Carolina since 1950.
After the trip to Delaware, Carolina will return home for two successive games. The Tar Heels meet Butler on Saturday, March 17 at 1 p.m. at Fetzer Field and then Carolina will host Duke on Wednesday, March 21 at 7,30 p.m. in UNC's first Atlantic Coast Conference game of the 2001 season.
