Sonke, Gormsen Named All-Americas

BALTIMORE, MD. - A pair of seniors were named Tuesday to the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse All-America Teams as announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. UNC associate athletic director Willie Scroggs chaired the USILA committee which made the selections.
Senior attackman Jeff Sonke was named a second-team All-America for the second straight year. Senior defenseman Bobby Gormsen was named an honorable mention All-America, also for the second year in a row.
Sonke led the Tar Heels in scoring for the 2001 season as he registered 26 goals and 12 assists for a total of 38 points while starting all 12 games for the Tar Heels. Gormsen was Carolina's defensive leader as he accumulated 47 ground balls while also starting all 12 Tar Heel games.
