This Week's Featured Games:
Toronto at Detroit (Tuesday, Jan. 15, 7:30 p.m., DTV, SNET-T, UPN 50): Vince Carter will lead the Raptors into The Palace at Auburn Hills to face Jerry Stackhouse and the Pistons. The Pistons got off to a quick start, but have won just three of their last 15 games. At 17-18, they are in fourth place in the Central Division and have a loose grip on the East's eighth and final playoff spot. Toronto, at 20-17, is in third place in the Central and sports the East's fifth-best record. Detroit defeated the Raptors 88-84 in Toronto on Nov. 20. Carter paces the Raptors with 25.6 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game and 4.7 assists per game. Stackhouse is also having a stellar year averaging 22.5 ppg, 4.1 rpg and 5.4 apg. Former Tar Heel Eric Montross also plays for the Raptors.
Washington at Chicago (Saturday, Jan. 19, 1:00 p.m., NBC, CTC): Michael Jordan returns to the Windy City to face the Bulls for the first time in his career. Jordan won six championships as the leader of the Bulls throughout much of 80's and 90's. Jordan retired from the Bulls for the second time in January 1999. He will return with a Wizards team that, at 18-16 is shocking the league. The Bulls, however, have fallen from grace since Jordan's departure and, at 7-29 possess the league's worst record. Chicago's new coach Bill Cartwright was a teammate of Jordan's over a decade ago at the start of the Bulls' glory years. NBC will televise the game nationally.
Los Angeles Clippers at Portland (Saturday, Jan. 19, 10:00 p.m., DTV, ASCN): Two former Tar Heel teammates will be reunited when the Clippers visit the Rose Garden on Sunday. Jeff McInnis will lead the upstart Clippers against Rasheed Wallace's Trail Blazers. McInnis and Wallace played together at UNC for two years (1993-94, 1994-95). Los Angeles enters the week 19-18 and in fifth place in the Pacific Division. Portland is 19-19 and in sixth place in the Pacific. The Blazers hope to take control of the West's eighth playoff seed, which the Clippers now hold. The Clippers are in the midst of a stretch where they play 25 of 34 games away from home.
Vince Carter (Toronto Raptors)
Last Week: Carter scored a game-high 31 points to go along with six
rebounds and two assists in Toronto's 79-72 home win versus the Clippers on
Sunday. He also posted 16 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the
Raptors' 94-91 overtime win versus Atlanta on Friday. On Wednesday Carter
contributed a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds in an 85-73 win at
Chicago. He had a game-high 31 points, four rebounds and three assists in
an 84-81 win at Memphis on Tuesday night. Carter currently ranks fourth in
the NBA in points per game (25.6), fifth in three-point field goals made
(82), sixth in minutes per
game (40.8), and 17th in steals (58).

Hubert Davis (Washington Wizards)
Last Week: Davis contributed eight points, one assist two steals as a
starter in Washington's 108-100 home loss to Minnesota on Saturday. He also
put up six points, pulled one rebound and one assist in the
Wizards' 105-86 loss at Milwaukee on Friday. On Tuesday, Davis scored 16
points to go along with one rebound and five assists in a 96-88 home win
versus the Clippers. Washington is 18-16 and in third place in the Atlantic
Division. Davis currently ranks seventh in the NBA in
three-point field-goal percentage (.458).

Rick Fox (Los Angeles Lakers)
Last Week: Fox had two points, six rebounds and two assists in the
Lakers' dramatic 106-104 loss at Chicago on Saturday. He also had two
points, two
boards and a season-high nine assists in a 120-102 blowout loss at Minnesota
on Friday. Fox tallied three points, two rebounds and four assists in a
102-90 win at Indiana on Wednesday. On Tuesday Fox contributed six points,
four rebounds and three assists in a 121-92 win at Detroit. Los Angeles is
now 28-6 and has the best record in the league.

Last Week: Haywood scored three points, had one rebound and
made one assist in Washington's 105-86 home loss to Minnesota on Saturday.

also had eight points, one board and one assist in the Wizards' 105-86 loss
at Milwaukee in Friday. The rookie had nine points, seven rebounds and one
block in the teams' 96-88 home win versus the Clippers on Tuesday. The

points in a 96-88 home win versus the Clippers. In that contest he also had
team-highs of 10 rebounds and eight assists. The

Jeff McInnis (Los Angeles
Clippers)
Last Week: McInnis put up no points and four assists in a 79-72 win
at Toronto on Sunday. He also had nine points, four rebounds and four
assists in L.A.'s 92-91 overtime loss at Charlotte on Friday. On Thursday,
McInnis had 11 points and three assists in a 108-89 loss at New Jersey.
McInnis led all scorers with a season-high 27 points, three rebounds and
five assists in a 96-88 loss at Washington on Tuesday. He also posted 10
points, two rebounds and two assists in the Clippers 116-92 loss at
Philadelphia on Monday. The Clippers are 19-19 and are fourth in the
Pacific Division. McInnis is currently tied with Michael Jordan for 22nd in
the NBA in assists per
game (5.2).

Eric Montross (Toronto
Raptors)
Last Week: Montross posted just two rebounds in Sunday's 79-72 home
loss to the Clippers. He did not play in Toronto's games on Friday and
Wednesday. Montross had two rebounds and one assist in Toronto's 84-81 win
at Memphis on Tuesday. The Raptors are 20-17 and are third in
the Central Division at week's start.

2001-02 Season Stats: 1.8 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.3 apg
Last Week: Stackhouse recorded a game-high 27 points to go with four
rebounds and seven assists in a 104-76 home victory against Charlotte. He
tallied a game-high 21 points, five rebounds and two assists in a 104-90
loss at Boston on Friday. Stackhouse contributed a team-high 27 points and
six assists in a 121-92 Pistons' loss versus the Lakers on Tuesday. He
tallied a game-high 24 points, one rebound and a game-high 10 assists in a
109-93 loss at Minnesota on Monday. The Pistons, at 17-18, are in fourth
place in the Central Division. Stackhouse currently ranks 14th in the NBA in
points per game (22.5) and seventh in free throw percentage (.871).

Last Week: Wallace tallied 11 points and had a team-high 11 rebounds

Wallace also
contributed 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two
blocks in Portland's 92-84 win at Orlando on Friday. He tied for the
team-high with 23 points, two rebounds and two assists in a 92-85 win at
Miami on Thursday. Wallace had 14 points, six rebounds and one assist in a
101-92 loss at Atlanta on Tuesday. He also had 12 points, seven rebounds and
four assists in the Blazers' 98-72 win at Cleveland on Monday. The Trail
lazers are 18-19 and in sixth place in the Pacific Division. Wallace ranks
11th in the NBA in minutes played (1,411), 14th in double-doubles (14) and
18th in rebounds per game (8.5).

in a 96-91 home win versus Cleveland on Thursday. Williams posted just two
rebounds in Denver's 95-94 loss at Dallas on Tuesday. He also had two
points, one rebound, two steals and a block as a starter in a 94-80 loss at
Charlotte last Monday. Denver is 11-24 and is in seventh place in the
Midwest Division.

Shammond Williams (Seattle
SuperSonics)
Last Week: Williams did not play in the Sonics 102-100 home victory
against Cleveland on Friday. He contributed five points, two
rebounds and a season-high three assists in a 111-106 loss at Minnesota on
Wednesday. Williams posted two points, one block and one steal in just six
minutes in a 100-88 win at Chicago on Monday. The Sonics, at 19-17, have won
eight of their last 10 games and are currently in third place in the Pacific
Division and hold the West's fifth playoff spot.
