This Week's Featured Games:
Los Angeles Lakers at Charlotte (Friday, Feb. 22, 7:30 p.m., DTV, KCAL, WAXN): The World Champion Lakers will make their only visit of the year to the Tar Heel State to face the Hornets at the Charlotte Coliseum on Friday. The Lakers, at 35-15, maintain the league's third-best record, but are playing without the services of All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal. The Hornets are 25-26 and one game behind Indiana for the East's final playoff spot at week's start. Baron Davis paces Charlotte, contributing 19.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. Former Carolina great Rick Fox starts at forward for Los Angeles.
Detroit at Toronto (Friday, Feb. 22, 7:00 p.m., DTV, KCAL, WAXN): The Pistons have won nine of their last 11 games coming into this week and have leap-frogged the Raptors, moving into second place in the Central Division. Detroit, 28-22, holds a one-game lead over 29-25 Toronto, and is just a game behind the division-leading Milwaukee Bucks. Jerry Stackhouse leads the Pistons in points and assists per game with 23.0 ppg and 5.2 apg. Vince Carter is Toronto's best weapon, but has been sidelined since before the All-Star Break. Carter's status for this game is undetermined.
Miami at Washington (Saturday, Feb. 23, 8:00 p.m., DTV, Sunshine, WB50): The resurgent Heat will travel to Washington for the first game of a Saturday and Sunday night home-and-home with the Wizards. After starting the season just 5-23, Miami has won 15 of its last 22 and are just four a half games out of the East playoff picture coming into this week. The Wizards, on the other hand, are having a remarkable year and, at 27-23, hold the East's fifth playoff spot. Washington is led by former Tar Heels Michael Jordan, Brendan Haywood and Hubert Davis.
Vince Carter (Toronto Raptors)
Last Week: Carter has been out of the Toronto lineup since Feb. 7,
when he suffered a lower leg injury against San Antonio that kept him out of the second half of
that contest. He has missed the Raptors' last four games and the All-Star
Game on Feb. 10, which he was scheduled to start for the Eastern Conference.
Toronto is 29-25 and in third place in the Central Division. Carter
currently ranks fifth in the NBA in points per game (25.5), eighth in
three-point field goals made (102), ninth in minutes per game (40.4), and
19th in steals (81).

Hubert Davis (Washington Wizards)
Last Week: Davis contributed two points, two rebounds and one assist
off the bench in Washington's 97-96 road victory over the Suns on Friday
night. He also scored six points, grabbed one rebound and dished three
assists in 16 minutes of play in Thursday's 109-93 loss at Sacramento. Davis
grabbed a rebound in the Wizards' 103-94 road loss to the Lakers on Tuesday.
Washington is 27-23 and in third place in the Atlantic Division. Davis
currently ranks ninth in the NBA in three-point field-goal percentage
(.438).

Joseph Forte (Boston Celtics)
Last Week: Forte scored two points and had one rebound in Boston's
92-75 loss at Golden State on Wednesday. He did not play in any of the
Celtics' three other games last week. Boston is second in the Atlantic
Division at 30-23.

2001-02 Season Stats: 0.7 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 0.5 apg
Rick Fox (Los Angeles Lakers)
Last Week: Fox had a season-high 18 points, six rebounds, five
assists and a steal in the Lakers' 111-105 loss at Portland on Sunday. He
also had seven rebounds, two assists and a block in a 93-90 home loss to
Atlanta Friday night. On Thursday, Fox tallied 13 points, eight rebounds,
five assists and one steal in a 92-87 road win against the Sonics. He had 10
points, three rebounds and two assists in a 103-94 road win at Washington on
Tuesday. Los Angeles is now 35-15 and is in second place in the Pacific
Division.

Last Week: Haywood tallied four points, three rebounds and one steal
in Washington's 97-96 road victory at Phoenix on Friday. He also had one
point, four boards and a steal in the Wizards' 109-93 loss at Sacramento on
Thursday. Haywood contributed four points, four rebounds and one block in a
103-94 road loss to the Lakers on Tuesday. The Wizards, at 27-23, hold the
East's fifth playoff spot at week's start. Haywood ranks 16th in the NBA in
blocks per 48 minutes (3.37) and 11th in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes
(5.7)

Last Week: Jamison poured in a 16 points to go along with six
rebounds, one steal and three blocks in Golden State's 100-94 home loss to
the Hawks on Sunday. On Friday, he contributed 26 points and seven rebounds
in the Warriors' 108-99 home loss to San Antonio. Jamison scored a team-high
27 points, pulled six rebounds, dished one assist, made a steal and blocked
a shot Wednesday's 92-75 home victory over Boston. The Warriors, at 15-34,
are in seventh place in the Pacific. Jamison is currently ranked 19th in the
NBA in offensive rebounds per game (2.6), and 19th field goal attempts per
48 minutes (21.85).

Last Week: Jordan hit a game-winning shot with 0.2 seconds remaining
to lift the Wizards to a 97-96 win at Phoenix on Friday. It was the second
time in the last eight games that Jordan hit a game-winner in the closing
seconds. He scored 22 points to go along with six rebounds, four assists,
two steals and two blocks against the Suns. He also posted 16 points, one
rebound, four assists and one steal in a 109-93 loss at Sacramento on
Thursday. Jordan had a team-high 22 points, five rebounds, six assists, two
steals and one block in Washington's 103-94 home loss to the Lakers. The
Wizards are 27-23 and in third place in the Atlantic Division. Jordan
currently ranks eighth in the NBA in points per game (24.8) and first in the
league in field goal attempts per 48 minutes (31.07).

George Lynch (Charlotte Hornets)
Last Week: Lynch had 10 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one
block in Charlotte's 92-78 home loss to Memphis on Sunday. On Friday, he had
seven points, four rebounds and four assists a 116-106 home win versus
Indiana. Lynch registered ten points, six rebounds, one assist, and one
steal in the Hornets' 113-91 home win versus the Bulls on Wednesday.
Charlotte is 25-26 and in fifth place in the Central Division at week's
start.

Jeff McInnis (Los Angeles
Clippers)
Last Week: McInnis put up 20 points, two rebounds and a career-high
15 assists in the Clippers' 119-110 home win over Dallas on Saturday. He had
11 points, four rebounds and seven assists in Thursday's 89-76 home loss to
the Spurs. The Clippers are 26-27 and are in fifth place in the Pacific
Division. McInnis is currently ranked 18th in the NBA in assists per game
(5.7), 10th in assists per turnover (3.33) and 13th in total minutes played
(1,969).

Eric Montross (Toronto
Raptors)
Last Week: Montross scored three points, grabbed three rebounds,
blocked two shots and attempted just the third three-point shot of his
career in Toronto's 91-86 home loss to Milwaukee on Sunday. The
three-pointer missed. He had two points and two rebounds in Friday's 94-85
home loss to Utah. Montross tallied two points and one rebound in the
Raptors' 89-82 loss at New York on Wednesday. On Tuesday, he scored four
points, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, made an assist and blocked a shot
in a 99-81 loss at Charlotte. Toronto enters the week at 29-25, and is in
third place in the Central Division.

Jerry Stackhouse (Detroit
Pistons)
Last Week: Stackhouse tallied 15 points, three rebounds, six assists,
one steal and one block in a 101-90 Pistons' road win at New York on
Friday. He posted a team-high 22 points, three rebounds, five assists, and
two steals in a 85-80 road victory at New Jersey on Thursday. On Tuesday,
Stackhouse tied for a team-high with 10 points, four rebounds, two assists
and one steal in Detroit's 99-71 home loss to Phoenix. The Pistons, at
28-22, have won nine of their last 11 games and are in second place in the
Central Division at week's start. Stackhouse currently ranks 11th in the NBA
in points per game (23.0) and 13th in free throw percentage (.873).

Rasheed Wallace (Portland Trail
lazers)
Last Week: Wallace contributed 25 points and six rebounds in
Portland's 111-105 home win versus the Lakers on Sunday. He scored 18
points, pulled six boards and dished one assist in the Blazers' 107-104 home
loss to the Celtics on Friday. On Wednesday, Wallace totaled 24 points, nine
rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a 114-103 home defeat of the
Mavericks. The Trail Blazers are 27-24 and in third place in the Pacific
Division. Wallace ranks 22nd in rebounds per game (8.2) and is tied for 25th
in points per game (19.3).

Scott Williams (Denver
Nuggets)

off the bench in the Denver's 98-77 loss at New Jersey on Sunday. He did not
play in any of the Nuggets' three other games last week. Denver is 16-33 and
is in sixth place in the Midwest Division.

SuperSonics)
