Tar Heels Seeded Second In ACC Field

North Carolina will play as the No. 2 seed in the 25th Annual ACC Women's Basketball Tournament, which begins Friday in Greensboro, N.C. For the third year, the tournament will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The Tar Heels, 22-7 overall, finished ACC play 11-5 to earn the tournament's second seed. They will open tournament play on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of Friday's game between No. 7 Wake Forest and No. 8 Maryland.
The tournament will celebrate its Silver Anniversary in 2002. Tickets in the Carolina section are still available by calling the UNC ticket office at (919) 962-2296 or (800) 722-4335.

For the third consecutive year, the tournament will feature expanded television coverage with five of the eight games to be broadcast. The first two quarterfinal games will be aired on the league's regional sports networks (Comcast SportsNet, FOX Sports Net South and Sunshine Network). Sunday's semifinals and Monday's championship game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports Net. This is the first year that the tournament will have three nationally televised match-ups, up two from a year ago.
