Carolina Golfer Dustin Bray Selected To All-America Second Team

NORMAN, OKLA. - North Carolina sophomore, Dustin Bray, this year's ACC Champion, was selected to the PING All-America Second Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Teammate Ramon Bescansa was chosen PING All-America Honorable Mention.
ray, from Asheboro, N.C., tied for 17th place at the NCAA Championships, posting a 283 total after rounds of 68-68-75-72. An All-ACC performer this year, Bray captured two individual titles. In additon to winning the ACC Championships, Bray tied for individual medalist honor at The Prestige last fall. He carded five top five and nine top 15 performances this year.
escansa, from Santiago, Spain, was the top Tar Heel performer at the NCAA Championships, tying for 13th place. He carded a 282 total firing rounds of 69-72-70-71. Bescansa posted four top 15 finishes this spring and was the runner-up at The Intercollegiate earlier this spring.
Other national college golf awards were also announced. Georgia Tech Head Coach Bruce Heppler was named the 2001-02 National Coach of the Year. Yellow Jacket Troy Matteson received the Arnold Palmer Award for being the NCAA medalist while Clemson's D.J. Trahan was presented the Jack Nicklaus Award as the top golfer during the college season. David Skinns of Tennessee was named the Softspikes Freshman of the Year.
