Six Carolina Men's Golfers Selected to ACC's 50th Anniversary Team

Greensboro, N.C. - Six former University of North Carolina men's golf team members have been named to the Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Team which was announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The Carolina representatives are Tee Burton, Frank Fuhrer, Max Harris, John Inman, Davis Love, III and Tom Scherrer.
In addition to Carolina's six representatives, Clemson and Wake Forest each placed 12 members on the team. NC State had six players selected followed by Duke with five, Georgia Tech with four while Maryland and Virginia each had three players honored. The 51-member team was voted on by the nine league institutions as decided by the league's 50th Anniversary Committee.

Three-time All-ACC selection from 1989 to 1991...reached finals of the 1991 North and South Amateur...won 1988 Old Dominion/Sea Scape Collegiate...champion of the Cavalier Classic two consecutive years in 1989 and 1990...champion of the 1990 Iron Duke Classic.
Three-time All-ACC and All-America from 1979 to 1981...won 1979 Guilford Intercollegiate...champion of 1980 Iron Duke Intercollegiate ...winner of 1981 Western Amateur...led Tar Heels to ACC Tournament championship in 1981...led Carolina in many other victories from 1979-1981.
Three-time All-America and All-ACC selection, 1998-00...won 1997 Black and Decker Duke Golf Classic...tied for second place in 1997 Mauna Kea Resort Invitational...1998 runner-up in Duke Golf Classic and tied for sixth at NCAA Championships...tallied third- place finish in East Regional and eighth-place finish in 1999 ACC Tournament.
Three-time All-ACC and All-America performer from 1982 to 1984...1984 NCAA Individual Champion ...Fred Haskins Award as National Player of the Year in 1984...member of 1984 World Amateur Team...1984 Western Amateur Champion...reached quarterfinals of U.S. Amateur in 1983...1982 ACC Champion ...1981 Methodist College Tournament Champion as a freshman... finished seventh in 1981 Chris Schenkel Invitational ...won Augusta Invitational in 1982 and 1983.
