NORTH CAROLINA NOTES
vs. Duke, Nov. 22, 2003
With five receptions Saturday, junior wide receiver Jarwarski Pollock finished 2003 with 71 grabs to set the Carolina single-season receptions record. Sam Aiken held the former mark with 68 catches just a year ago.
Quarterback Darian Durant passed for 203 yards giving him a total of 2551 yards on the season to set another single-season Tar Heel record. Mike Thomas passed for 2,436 yards in 1994 to hold the former record. He set single-season marks for total offense and completions last week at Georgia Tech. Durant is already Carolina's career leader in touchdown passes, pass completions, pass attempts, passing yards and total offense.
Sophomore Wallace Wright's 17-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter came on the first catch of his Tar Heel career. He is the 12th different player with a receiving touchdown for Carolina this season.
Saturday's game marked the final contest for 21 Carolina seniors, including captains Jeb Terry and Dexter Reid. Also playing their final game at Kenan Stadium were Jermicus Banks, Bobby Blizzard, Clarence Gaddy, Michael Harris, Derrick Johnson, John Lafferty, Landon Mariani, David Mirazo, Isaac Mooring, Dan Orner, Willie Parker, Tony Pigford, Paul Roberts, Topher Roberts, Clay Roberson, Brandon Russell, C.J. Stephens, Michael Waddell and Jupiter Wilson.
