Tar Heels Ranked No. 14 In Preseason

North Carolina is ranked 14th in the preseason NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches Poll, released Tuesday by the WBCA. The Tar Heels, 28-6 last season, were 15th in last year's final USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Poll.
Defending-champion Connecticut was a unanimous pick for No. 1, with Duke at No. 2 and Texas at No. 3. Tennessee is ranked fourth and Kansas State fifth.
Carolina received 467 points in the polling, just behind No. 13 Minnesota (472).
The first regular-season poll will come out on Nov. 18, three days before the Tar Heels play their season-opener against St. Francis. That game, on Nov. 21, will tip off at 7 p.m. at Carmichael Auditorium.
The Tar Heels open 2003-04 action on Wednesday night with an exhibition game against Premier Players. UNC will play a second exhibition on Nov. 10.
