Tar Heels Host Wofford Saturday At Carmichael

Tipoff
The North Carolina women's basketball team hosts the Wofford Lady Terriers Saturday evening for a nonconference game. Tipoff at Carmichael Auditorium is 7 p.m.
UNC (6-1) is ranked 16th in the Associated Press poll and 15th in the coaches' poll following Sunday's loss at Old Dominion. Wofford (0-6) is not ranked.
Next up for the Tar Heels is a home game on Dec. 17 against Western Michigan. Tipoff is 7 p.m. for the final game at Carmichael before the holiday break.
On the air
Friday's game will be broadcast live by the Tar Heel Radio Network. The women's basketball network encompasses 17 stations, including WCHL-AM 1360, the flagship station. Jones Angell will handle the play-by-play and Adam Pohl will provide color commentary.

Tickets
Tickets to UNC women's basketball games are $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. There is no charge for admission for children 12 and under.
North Carolina students, faculty and staff are admitted free with their UNC One Cards.
Tickets may be purchased at the Carmichael Auditorium ticket window prior to the game or through the UNC ticket office by calling (919) 962-2296 or (800) 722-4335.
News of note
* Saturday's game will be the first women's basketball meeting between UNC and Wofford.
* Camille Little has been named ACC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Monday's honor followed a 23-point performance against Old Dominion.
* In a survey of Division I schools, Wofford proved to be the nation's youngest women's basketball team. The players average 18.77 years in age, with no seniors on the roster.
* Edgar Farmer, a second-year assistant coach at Wofford, is making his first trip to Carmichael as a coach but is very familiar with the territory. A 1994 UNC graduate, he served as the video technician for Carolina's '94 NCAA Championship women's basketball team.
* The Tar Heels fell three spots in both the A.P. and coaches' polls following last Sunday's loss at Old Dominion. The defeat was UNC's first of the season.
* Carolina has shot 50 percent or better in four of the last five games.
* Five Tar Heels are averaging between 14.0 and 11.1 points per game.
* UNC coach Sylvia Hatchell was announced on Nov. 16 as one of six people who will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in June of 2004.

Scouting the Wofford Lady Terriers
Wofford is 0-6 on the season following a 79-61 loss last Saturday at Davidson. Brie Bradshaw led the Lady Terriers with 22 points in that game and Ricaye Harris had 19, including five three-pointers.
The team has also suffered losses to Nebraska (104-46 on the road), Georgia State (61-47 at home), New Orleans (79-76 at home), Coastal Carolina (65-55 on the road) and UNC Greensboro (62-50 on the road).
Bradshaw, a junior guard/forward, leads the team with 14.0 points per game. Harris, a junior guard, adds 12.0. The team's top rebounder is freshman center Jenny Weurding with 6.2 per game.
The team is coached by Samantha Young, who is in her first year with the program. She spent the previous six years as an assistant at Coastal Carolina, which played the Tar Heels at Carmichael three times during that span.
