This is the fifth three-overtime game in Carolina history (not counting a four-overtime game against Tulane in 1976). The Tar Heels are 3-2 in those games.
This is the first time in Smith Center history Carolina played a multiple overtime game. It is the 10th overtime game in Smith Center history. It was the 240th game played by UNC in the Smith Center.

This is the first time in Carolina history the Tar Heels lost a game in which they scored at least 100 points. The previous high for most points in a loss was 97 to West Virginia on Dec. 31, 1965.
The 233 points scored are the most ever by both teams in a Carolina game. The previous high was 231 by UNC and Kentucky on Dec. 27, 1989. UNC won that game 121 to 110. The previous high for the Smith Center was 218 vs. VMI on Dec. 17, 1994 (UNC won 129-89).
The 233 points equal the second-most by both teams in an ACC game. The record is 234 by Maryland and NC State on Dec. 20, 1978. Clemson and Wake Forest scored 233 on Feb. 13, 2002 (Clemson 118, WF 115).
Raymond Felton had a season-high 22 points and 13 assists. It was his first double-double of the year and fifth career.
