Tar Heels Fall To No. 1 Stanford in Consolation Round

CHAPEL HILL - The University of North Carolina women's tennis team is ranked No. 12 in the latest Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings administered by the International Tennis Association. Carolina fell five spots in the rankings after a hard-fought 4-3 loss to Kentucky in the absence of All-America senior Marlene Mejia.

The Tar Heels also have four singles players and two doubles teams ranked individually. In the updated rankings released Wednesday, senior Kate Pinchbeck was ranked No. 14 in singles, followed by No. 41 sophomore Aniela Mojzis, No. 64 Mejia and No. 110 sophomore Kendall Cline.

In doubles, Carolina boasts two ranked teams. Pinchbeck and partner Kendrick Bunn are the No. 29 doubles team in the nation, while Mejia and Mojzis are a close No. 32.

The Tar Heels will host Boston University Saturday, March 1 at Noon and No. 26 Harvard University Sunday, March 2 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
