Natalie Halbach Named EAGL Specialist Of Week

CHAPEL HILL, NC -- Natalie Halbach, a senior from Plymouth, Minn. was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Specialist of the Week for her performances on the balance beam during the week ending March 2.
The EAGL began the Specialist of the Week award this season to reward one gymnast per week for her excellent competition in fewer than three events in a meet. Halbach is the second Tar Heel to receive the honor this season, following sophomore teammate Olivia Trusty.
The Tar Heels competed in two meets in three days last weekend, the first time in nearly fifteen years that a Carolina gymnastics team has done so. On Fri., Feb. 28, Halbach was the co-balance beam champion at the Wolfpack Invitational at NC State with a season-high score of 9.925, only .025 short of her career-high 9.950.
Halbach's 9.925 score contributed to the team score of 49.475, a new record on balance beam for the Carolina gymnastics program.
Halbach followed the Friday meet with her second best performance on the balance beam this season at home on Sun., March 2. She scored a 9.875 to tie for the runner-up position. Caroloina finished the meet with its second-best score of the season, a 196.000. The team won the quad meet to improve its record to 17-1.
