Kinston, N.C. - On Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004 at Kinston's South East Elementary School, in an ongoing effort to raise awareness of hunger in America, NBA Players Association members including Jerry Stackhouse will extend a helping hand to 400 families in and around the Kinston community.
Athletes and other volunteers will distribute boxes of food and personal care items. The NBAPA will provide the `care packages' for families. Each care package will consist of (1) 20 lb. box of non-perishable food items and (1) 30 lb. box of personal grooming items such as lotion, toothpaste, deodorant and shower supplies.
Once families have been determined, tickets will be distributed. Ticket holders should arrive at South East Elementary School to claim their care boxes around 9:45 am. The distribution of packages will be between 10:00 am and noon. South East Elementary is located at 201 S. McDaniel Street in Kinston, N.C.
Jerry Stackhouse and the rest of the "Triple Threat Foundation Feed the Children Thanksgiving Celebration" partnership welcomes all support in making this inaugural event a huge success.
The NBAPA has formed a partnership with the international hunger relief agency, Feed the Children. Through this partnership, NBA players team up across the country to distribute food and care items to needy families and individuals.
