Carolina's Men's Golfers In 10th Place At The Bank Of Tennessee At The Ridges Intercollegiate

Jonesborough, Tenn. - Carolina's men's golf team got its fall season underway today and is tied for 10th place after two rounds of the Bank of Tennessee at The Ridges Intercollegiate. The Tar Heels carded rounds of 295-294 for a 13-over-par 589 total. Oklahoma leads the 15-team field with a four-under 572 total after firing rounds of 290-282. A trio of teams are two stokes back in a tie for second place with 274 totals - Clemson, TCU and Tennessee.
Anthony Kim of Oklahoma fired a pair of four-under 68s to grab the individual lead after two rounds with a 136 total. Clemson's Brian Duncan is one stroke back at 137 after firing rounds of 68-69. Webb Simpson of Wake Forest is in third place with a 138 total while Drew Pigg of TCU is fourth at 139 and Colby Beckstrom of TCU and Philip Pettitt of Tennessee are tied for fifth place with 141 totals.
For the Tar Heels, sophomore Martin Ureta led the way with rounds of one-under 71 and two-over 74 for a one-over 145 total and is tied for 19th place. Jonathan Jackson is tied for 32nd place with a 147 total after rounds of 75-72 while Fernando Figueroa is tied for 40th at 148, Matt Crenshaw is tied for 47th at 149 and Josh Moore is tied for 72nd with a 155 total.
The final round of the 54 hole event will be played Sunday at The Ridges Golf and Country Club which features a par 72, 7,147-yard layout.
