Carolina Ranked Fifth In Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Poll

BALTIMORE, MD. - The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team has earned the No. 5 ranking in the preseason poll issued this week by Lacrosse Magazine in the January/February issue of the magazine. Coach John Haus' Tar Heels are one of three ACC teams ranked in the Top six nationally.
Johns Hopkins is ranked first in Division I, and defending champion Syracuse is second. Navy is third and defending ACC champion Maryland fourth followed by the Tar Heels and Virginia.
The remainder of the Top 10 includes No. 7 Georgetown, No. 8 Princeton, No. 9 Cornell and No. 10 Rutgers.
UNC will play eight games against teams ranked in the Lacrosse Magazine preseason Top 20 during the upcoming season.
The second 10 in the poll includes No. 11 Notre Dame, No. 12 Army, No. 13 Towson, No. 14 Duke, No. 15 Massachusetts, No. 16 Ohio State, No. 17 Denver, No. 18 Penn State, No. 19 Hobart and No. 20 Pennsylvania.
Expanded college previews, including preseason player of the year selections and profiles, will run in the March issue of Lacrosse Magazine. It is the publication's largest annually. It includes a summer camp directory and will go to over 160,000 members of US Lacrosse. The rankings were compiled by Lacrosse Magazine staff in consultation with collegiate coaches and other media that cover the sport.
